Staff frilled about Knickers 4 Łnickers day
August 2006
Domestic & General of Bedworth are holding a Knickers 4 £nickers fundraising day for 'Get ahead', a charity which helps people who suffer with cancers of the head and throat on 1 September. This is in support of a 19 year old employee, Aimee Cotton, a thryroid cancer survivor who was first diagnosed with thyroid cancer when she was just 14.
Staff at the Domestic & General office on Leicester Street will take part in activities including a 'Big Pants' dress down day where staff will wear big pants over their normal work clothes, prizes for staff decorating their pods in the theme of superheroes and games such as 'pin the pants on the the pin up'. Hand and shoulder massages will be on offer and delicious knickerbocker glories will be sold.
Throughout the day there will be an auction of colourful new knickers (hung from a washing line in the offices) that will be donated by staff and the local community.
Aimee, who works as a product replacement adviser for Domestic & General says 'After I was given the all clear, I wanted to help those who helped me. Knickers 4 £nickers is a project I have been planning for quite some time, and I chose the name because knickers are a lot like cancer - they can be any shape and size and very personal to everyone'.
Alistair Murray, Operations Director says 'Aimee is a brave girl and we all wanted to support her knicker for £nickers fundraising day. We are hoping to raise significant funds for this very good cause.'
